It's been a while since I've posted anything new, because there was nothing new. Ho hum, same old, same old.
On 6 Jan. 2012, my tower and antenna were raised by Bierlein Company.

I have been DXing at 5 watts of power, and enjoy making 2 way QRP contacts worldwide.
My motor home is awaiting warmer weather for camping and portable ham operating.

Hi there. Welcome to the WA8REI blog. Here's a photo of my Yaesu FT-2000 transceiver, purchased in 2010 at the Dayton Hamvention.
My interests are many: ham radio, piano, organ, hammered dulcimer, camping, traveling, sightseeing, lighthouse viewing to name a few.
I own a 1996 Winnebago Rialta motor home. I like to wilderness camp with it and operate "QRP portable" (low power amateur radio from hilltops, lighthouses, special events, etc.). The photo to the right shows such a location in Ogemaw County, MI, roughly 80 miles north of home, where I maintain permanent ropes in trees on a 1,500 foot hilltop in the Au Sable State forest. There is abundant wildlife in the area: deer, coyotes, black bear, hawks to name a few.
I loved playing the pipe organ. This photo was taken only a few weeks before my stroke in January 2008. Since the stroke, I have no use of my left hand. My organ playing days ended. I was a professional church organist from 1973 to 2008, performing in 7 churches over that time frame in Michigan, New York and Germany.
This is me at my Tadashi grand piano, pre-stroke.
I can make music one handed with my Korg 01WproX electronic keyboard. Below is a sample.
73 (best regards) to all. Drop me an email at wa8rei@charter.net to
comment or ask questions. -- Ken
